We know that there are many kids in Tanzania that need our help, as such we have established a new program to provide education sponsorship for children in need. We have made a commitment that for every child who lives in our home, we will give 5 other kids the education that they want and need. To do this we have chosen to work with Newlands Orphanage.
More than 60 kids from Newlands Orphanage will benefit from this program. Newlands Orphanage cares for 65 children from the local village. Over 40 of them live on site full time and the others attend boarding school and stay at the orphanage during the holidays.
Newlands village is located 10km south of Moshi, Tanzania. The climate is very hot and dry which can make daily life very difficult in this small community. Unemployment is high and job opportunities are limited. Many children are left without parents or support.
Most of the kids only have a few clothes and many only have 1 pair of shoes.
Supported by only a small number of donors, the staff at Newlands Orphanage struggle to cover the basic needs of the kids. They desperately need help to provide better food, education and healthcare. All the kids go to school but it is always stressful when it comes time to pay fees.
The orphanage needs help to get electricity, a continuous water supply, to pay school fees, buy food, get clothes and provide healthcare. If you would like to know more about the orphanage please visit: www.newlandsorphanage.com
We have wonderful staff and as our resources grow we would like to be able to provide greater recognition for their hard work and generosity. This would not only mean more staff with better wages, but also opportunities for the staff to receive further education and training which will ultimately allow them to provide greater support to their own families.
Many of our staff have to support children of their own (or nieces & nephews) and we would like to give their kids the same opportunity as the children from Ujamaa Children's Home.
