We know that there are many kids in Tanzania that need our help, as such we have established a new program to provide education sponsorship program for children in need. We have made a commitment that for every child who lives in our home, we will give 5 additional children the education that they want and need. We do this through out Staff Dependant Program and by supporting Newlands Orphanage.
Staff Dependant Program
We have wonderful staff and as our resources grow we would like to be able to provide greater recognition for their hard work and generosity. This would not only mean more staff with better wages, but also opportunities for the staff to receive further education and training which will ultimately allow them to provide greater support to their own families.
Many of our staff have to support children of their own (or extended family) and we would like to give their kids the same opportunity as the children from Ujamaa Children's Home.
Newlands Orphanage
Newlands Orphanage cares for 60 children from the local village, located 15km south of the town of Moshi, Tanzania. More than 40 of the kids live on site full time and the others attend boarding school/vocational training and stay at the orphanage during the holidays.
The climate in Newlands Village is very hot and dry which can make daily life very difficult in this small community. Unemployment is high and job opportunities are limited. Many children are left without parents or support. Most of the kids at the orphanage only have a few clothes and 1 pair of shoes.
Supported by only a small number of donors, the staff at Newlands Orphanage struggle to cover the basic needs of the kids. They desperately need help to provide better food, education and healthcare. All the kids go to school but it is always stressful when it comes time to pay fees.
Our program supports 60 children in getting the education they so desperately need to ensure they have a chance to support themselves in the future!
